During those times, I only rely on search engines when doing research about a nearby place or the newly opened restaurant in our area. Until one day, one of my friends introduced to me Google directions.

I tried using Google directions once and it gave me a positive result. Looking for a certain place was made more easy because of this web based application. Basing on the word alone, I already know what these Google directions all about, and it is exactly what it literally means.

Yeah, that was kinda sad, like how sad not to have a 64-piece crayon box from Crayola. That was one of my simple dreams when I was young but I had not got any. I guess it was something my parents thought would be a waste of money to give to a kid. So sad. So sad. This old Crayola commercial, just reminded me of it. This ad was interesting though because it was completely black and white. Odd isn't it for a crayon.

Gmail Tricks

I am an avid Gmail user for almost two years now and never had I regretted that I had switched from Yahoo Mail to Gmail. At first, I wasn't use to how I see my inbox as soon as I logged in, but later I realized how convenient the feature was.

Anyway, there are other Gmail features that I have explored and tricks I have used and I want to share them with you.

One recent feature that has been added is that you can change the theme of Gmail account. Just in case you find the default look boring and simple. This feature was not there the first time I signed up for it.

Another one is that Gmail saves activity information. Meaning it has a record of your recent sessions and by checking it you can see if you haven't logged out from the last computer you used (example: work computer). From where you are checking, you can log out such session.

Gmail also has a group of experimental features. The features can be activated or enabled in Gmail Labs section. Some of the experemintal features are Superstar (gives colorful icons on starring the emails), an offline mode, and sending chat messages as SMS.

How to change a Gmail password can be considered a trick too, since it can't be done inside the Gmail page.

And if you are avoiding someone you can block the sender in Gmail, or be invisible in Gmail chat.

One of the most intriguing jobs nowadays are those people who are earning money through blogging, or people earning from making a website. And what often comes to mind to everyone is how do these people earn? Well, it's not really that complicated to explain. It's just the same how television, and newspapers earn--they earn from ads. Yep, from advertisements and selling products etc.

Making money online isn't an easy feat though especially with millions of website online. But if you are creative enough, determined, motivated to learn the techniques then you can make it.

Google's Tagalog-English Language Translator

People complain that online language translators like Yahoo! Babel Fish, and Google Translate don't give accurate translations, and in fact, the translations often yield funny meanings. Today, I was on search of poorly translated texts using Google's language translator.

Google Translate is an online translation tool that does translations so far between 35 languages like Italian, Catalan, Korean, Danish, Norwegian, and even Arabic translator Google has it.

This tool though can't give accurate translations all the time that is why I am on the look for poorly translated texts. What I will feature though is the Filipino/Tagalog to English translation since my first language is Tagalog, and my second language is English. So, I know for sure if the translated texts are poorly translated.

Here are some simple Tagalog sentences that I think are funny translations by Google Translate:

Tagalog Text: Aalis ka?

Google Translate: You leaving?

Correct Translation: Are you leaving?

T: Nakita ko si nanay lumabas.

G: I saw si mother out.

C: I saw mom went out.

T: Gusto ko ng cake; libre mo ako.

G: I want a cake; free me.

C: I want a cake; treat me.

T: Hinahanap ko sapatos ko.

G: I like looking shoes.

C: I am looking for my shoes.

T: Inaantok na ako, kaya matutulog na ako.

G: I'm lethargic, so I sleep

C: I am already drowsy, so I will sleep.

Better: I am already tired, so I will go to bed.

Here are some Tagalog sentences that are well translated by Google Translate:

Tagalog: Hindi ko kayang mawala ka.

Google: I can not afford to lose you.

T: Galit ako sa iyo.

G: I'm angry with you.

Better: I'm mad at you.

T: Masaya ako kasama ka.

G: I am happy with you.

T: Umuwi ka kaagad pagkatapos ng party.

G: I do not know the reason.

I am not writing this article to make fun of Google's tool or other language translator tools. In fact, I am thrilled with the idea that one day computers can do accurate language translations, I appreciate Google's efforts and other companies that are spending millions to perfect this translation technology.
